EIR Will Not Be Released Before the New Year

Several of you have reached out to us following a City of Escondido email blast suggesting the Safari Highlands Ranch EIR could be released by the end of THIS YEAR despite earlier statements that the reworking of the EIR would delay its release into early 2017. To issue such a complicated and contested EIR during the final weeks of 2016 (holidays, travel, etc.) would certainly have appeared intentional and furtive. Last week, the City of Escondido was asked directly if the SHR EIR would be released by the end of 2016 and their reply was that the “EIR will not come out before the New Year.” We are pleased to have an unequivocal statement from the City of Escondido that the SHR EIR will NOT be released during the waning months of 2016.
